COTTAGE GROVE’S BEST KEPT SECRET

The availability of programs at the pool has made a huge difference in my personal health and well being.  It has also made a positive difference in the lives of our 2 children and family as a whole.  As a family, we truly love the water.  We go swimming and boating at both of Cottage Groves beautiful lakes as well as rafting in the river.  I am so thankful that Cottage Grove has a pool that is open for public use.  It makes Cottage Grove a great place to live!

-- Russ Garrison, former Cottage Grove High School Swimmer and Water Polo Player

COTTAGE GROVE SWIM CLUB

Shortly after the pool opened, Cottage Grove started a swim team.  Under the leadership of Wally Ciochette and Bud Taylor, Cottage Grove trained championship teams year after year winning many district titles and the State Swim meets.  Several All-American swimmers started competing here.  That tradition continues today with the Cottage Grove Aqualions Swim and Water Polo team again training under Bud Taylor.

KEEPING KIDS WATER SAFE

South Lane School District provides 1-2 weeks of swim lessons for all students in K, 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th-8th grades. Since the beginning of this program in 1966, there have been no drownings in Cottage Grove.  Additional swim lessons are offered after school and in the evenings for anyone 6 months and older.  The Aquatic Center also offers affordable, supervised Family and Public Recreational swim times for the community.

KEEPING COTTAGE GROVE HEALTHY

The Aquatic Center is dedicated to providing fitness options for all members of the community.  Shallow and deep water aerobic classes give participants a great workout while being gentle on their joints.  Lap swims bring in experienced swimmers as well as those just starting out.  Exercising in water offers many physical and mental health benefits and is a good choice for people who want to be more active and add healthy years to their lives.
