KVAL NEWS: 'Save Our Pool' to benefit from Rolf Prima Tri at the Grove

In an effort to help the “Save our Pool” fund, Dark30 Sports is sponsoring three teams for the Rolf Prima Tri at the Grove triathlon on July 24th at Cottage Grove Lake’s Lakeside Park. The fundraising efforts are all focused on raising $25,000 to keep the Cottage Grove community pool (Daugherty Aquatic Center) open through the end of the year.

Dark30 Sports also teamed with the Cottage Grove Daugherty Aquatic Center’s “Save Our Pool” group to support a triathlon for elementary school students organized by Cottage Grove businessman Ron O’Keefe July 9 at the Cottage Grove pool.

The sunny day brought out 39 children and their parents for the morning swim, bike and run. Every child was a winner and received gold-colored ‘Finisher’ ribbons. The entry fees went to the “Save Our Pool” fund.

Rolf Prima, sponsor of the upcoming 24 July “Rolf Prima Tri at the Grove” in Cottage Grove sent one of its triathlon team members and Ironman triathlete Annie Loe to talk with the young triathletes before the morning competition began. Loe told the kids about pre-race nutrition (have a good breakfast) and gave a show and tell about her triathlon bike and racing equipment.
